"Heroes and Explorers:  The Stories We Tell About Science"

ABSTRACT -- Henry R. Schlesinger, author of The Battery, explores the early development of the battery, its unique evolution, and the engineers who put it to use. SPEAKER -- Henry R. Schlesinger is a New York-based science writer. A former contributing editor to Popular Science magazine, he has written for Popular Mechanics and Smithsonian. He is also the co-author of the Foreign Affairs bestseller, SPYCRAFT:  The Secret History of the CIA’s Spytechs from Communism to Al-Qaeda. His most recent book is The Battery: How Portable Power Sparked a Technological Revolution.
