"The Future of the Hubble Space Telescope, Beyond 30 Years"

ABSTRACT -- In 2020, the Hubble Space Telescope celebrated 30 years of exploration from Earth orbit. Now in its fourth decade, Hubble remains one of the most beloved and productive observatories in NASA's history. What does the future hold for the orbiting telescope? Hear from Hubble's senior project scientist about the cosmic mysteries and ambitious scientific projects Hubble will be pursuing in the coming years, and from the observatory's systems manager to find out how Hubble's engineers are tackling challenges to keep a 30-year-old spacecraft turning out new cosmic revelations as much as — or even more than — ever.

SPEAKERS --

Jennifer Wiseman is the Senior Project Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope mission. She is a Goddard Senior Fellow, and previously led the Laboratory for Exoplanets and Stellar Astrophysics. She studies the environments where stars and planets form in interstellar clouds. She is also interested in science policy and public engagement, and has served as a congressional science fellow.

Morgan Van Arsdall is the Systems Manager for the Hubble Space Telescope program. She has been part of the Hubble Mission Operations and Systems Engineering team since 2001, working to ensure that Hubble remains scientifically productive into the late 2020s and beyond. Morgan has a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from George Washington University.
