"The Enhanced State of Lens-based Eye Surgery"

ABSTRACT -- This talk will review the history of lens implants. The technique was pioneered by Sir Harold Ridley, beginning in 1949. The talk will include a discussion of the current state of in situ adaptive optics and of current intraocular lens designs.

SPEAKER -- Dr. Jonathan Solomon is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in laser cataract and refractive surgery. He works with manufacturers of precision surgical equipment to keep up with the latest techniques. During surgery, he monitors the optical performance of the eye in real time.

He is an Adjunct-Assistant Professor of Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery at the University of Maryland, where he serves as the official Terps LASIK surgeon. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons.
